Vetus BOW PRO thrusters use proven induction motors without carbon brushes.
As a result, the bow thruster motor is maintenance-free and has Endurance Rated* run time! Only the tailpiece and the power circuits require regular maintenance. The induction motor is controlled by the VETUS MCV motor controller. This in-house-engineered motor controller can handle both 12V or 24V board systems, making the new BOW PRO thruster suitable for almost all boats. The combination of built-in over-temp and low-battery protection with the brushless induction motor make the BOW PRO thruster series highly resistent to misuse, and making these thrusters ideal for even the most inexperienced boater!The BOW PRO thruster is controlled by proprietary CAN bus protocol (digital control). There are two fully-proportional panels available for the thruster series; one basic panel (BPPPA) and one panel with lock-and-hold function for easy docking (BPPJA). BOW PRO thrusters utilize the same propellers and gearboxes as proven in VETUS thrusters for more than 30 years. Upgrading to a boat with an existing thruster to a BOW PRO thruster is easily achieved as the Bow Pro thruster was designed to share tunnel sizes with current VETUS thrusters as well as many other brands.
Not all thrusters are equal. Traditional thrusters offer two modes: on and off. Our BOW PRO thrusters offer full proportional control. This means you get to decide how much thrust you need – a little or a lot. And, with VETUS’s innovative DC-to-DC charging technology, you can be confident that your thruster will always be ready to use as much as you need, without fear of overuse or overheating issues.

With a bow thruster integration kit from Mercury, the new systems integration allows Mercury to capitalize on the unique features and advantages of the VETUS BOW PRO thruster range, including the NMEA 2000-certified CAN bus interface allowing control of the proportional thruster from Mercury’s joystick.
